Cake Auction - November Pack
Meeting
Link
to Cake Auction Handout
At each November Pack meeting, Pack 457 holds a Cake
Auction. This is the only fundraiser that we have for the Pack. Other
Packs sell popcorn (they get about 30 cents for each dollar sold) and
this requires the boys to go door to door selling the popcorn. Some
parents ended up buying lots of popcorn in order to help fund the Pack
and the decision was made some time ago to discontinue this and instead
try the Cake Auction. The results for our Pack have been awesome!
This
is a good, fun way to earn Pack funds and so don’t be bashful about
bidding. The money collected at our auction is used to buy the scouts
badges, help fund our Good Turn project (Purchasing 2 trees for the east
playground this year!!!) and to purchase books and neckerchiefs for the
boys at crossover, just to name a few.
Each
scout with his parent’s help makes (or buys) and decorates a cake.
The cakes are judged, the top 3 places are awarded ribbons and
the auction begins. On
check in, the scout will receive a bidding number to participate in the
auction and this will only be for those scouts entering a
cake. Each cake is auctioned and the highest bidder wins.

Remember, this is a FUND Raising event for our
boys. Don’t be surprised at some of the selling prices (highest bid last
year was $185.00!).
Crazy ideas for cake decorations include: Movie
Tickets, DVD’s and VHS Movies, Lego Sets, Match Box Cars, Video games
(Game Cube or PlayStation), Hockey Tickets, anything else to increase the
bidding power of your cake.
It is a fun
time for all. Please bring your Scout, his Cake and your don’t forget
your checkbook… |
